Welcome to the Z Scale page. Z Scale, what does this mean. "Z" indicates we are modeling in Z-scale which is a ratio of 1 to 220 or 1:220 or 1 foot in the model equals 220 feet in the real world. Z-scale trains run on 6.5 mm track. Standard gauge track in the real world is 4ft 8.5 inches between the rails. So in Z-Scale standard gauge track is represented by 6.5 mm track or 6.5 mm between the rails.

Z Scale is the smallest prduction scale in model railroading. Märklin introduced Z Gauge (1:220 scale) in 1972 to the world of model railroading. Z scale is about 37% smaller than N scale and six times smaller than HO, which makes it great for small places.
